First half
Gabriel Fauré – Requiem
with professional orchestra and soloists
Fauré began sketches for the Requiem in 1887 and the first performance took place in 1888 in Paris where he spent most of his life. Fauré thought on a smaller, more intimate scale than many of his contemporaries. He uses subtle gradations in dynamics, color, and harmony to achieve the effects that he wants. Among all the famous requiems, Fauré’s Requiem stands out for its serenity and soothing gentleness.
Second Half
Peace Is Our Nature
a selection of “a capella” music that the choir will be performing in Europe for the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the end of World War II.
